Making the Most of a Denver Summer with Kids


Attention Parents! 

It is the middle of summer, and you may be running out of fun things to do with your kids in Denver. Here are some suggestions for FREE fun before they get back to school!

FREE Events in July

Tuesday, July 11th from 4-8pm Free afternoon in the Children’s Museum of Denver.

Saturday, July 15th Free day to explore the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms and the Lavender Festival.

Monday, July 17th Free day to explore the Denver Botanic Gardens at York st.

Friday July 21st from 4-8pm Free night at Joy Park. Joy Park is connected to the Children’s Museum of Denver and features 30,000 square feet of outdoor adventure space for kids to climb, dig, zip-line, splash, and all-in play.

FREE Events in August

Tuesday, August 1st Colorado Day- Celebrate Colorado’s 141st birthday with a free day at the History Colorado Center. Join in a fun day of gold panning, blacksmithing, demonstrations, and more.

Tuesday, August 1st from 4-8pm Free afternoon in the Children’s Museum of Denver

Sunday, August 6th The Denver Museum of Nature & Science will offer free general admission.

Monday, August 7th at 7:30pm Monday Movie Madness. The movie SING is playing on the big screen at Infinity Park in Glendale.

Friday August 18th from 4-8pm Free night at Joy Park. Joy Park is connected to the Children’s Museum of Denver and features 30,000 square feet of outdoor adventure space for kids to climb, dig, zip-line, splash, and all-in play.

Saturday August 19th Free day at the Denver Firefighters Museum, including special activities and visits from real firefighters

Monday, August 28th The Denver Museum of Nature & Science will offer free general admission

If you have done it all, try….

Frozen the Musical at the Buell Theatre playing August-October with tickets from $25 dollars

City Park Jazz  Every Sunday night in June and July at City Park free of charge.

Film on the Rocks: the Lego Movie is playing on the big screen at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Friday, July 7th and Monday July 17th at 7pm. Tickets are $15 dollars.

Water World Water park in Federal Heights to cool off on a hot day Tickets from $36.99 to $41.99

Denver Skatepark is filled with bowls for all levels of skating skill. Admission is free. Helmets are required.

Meet the Beekeeper throughout the summer at Hudson Gardens in Littleton. 

Kids Food Fest To-Go on Monday,  July 24th from 9am-4pm the Children’s Museum
